A lifetime member of the Actors Studio, graduate of both Yale and The Central School of Speech & Drama (London), Ariane’s approach is an integration of the Method’s psycho-emotional grounding and British text-based study. Whether coaching for the demands of the Broadway-sized stage of for the intimacy of the camera, Ariane stresses centered, organic work with a healthy respect for language, physicality, and the integrity of the artist.
Trained in voice, speech and dialects by the renowned British coach, Julia Wilson-Dickson, Ariane also specializes in using actor-friendly techniques to center and release the voice, acquire dialects for immediate use in auditions, as well as for the longer term requirements of a “speech” makeover. She has a specialty in coaching Shakespearean text.
As an actress Ariane has played several leads Off-Broadway, been featured on all the major TV networks, and recently completed the lead role in an independent feature. She has co-written two produced plays, directed Off-Broadway and regionally, and has developed plays for some of the leading playwrights of our generation. She is also a former dancer and an accomplished classical pianist.
As a healer and coach, Ariane has worked with not only actors, but people from all walks of life--from marketting executives to survivalists. She is certified as a Structural Alignment Lifecoach, an NDT and Kantillation practitioner, as well as a Level 1 NDT trainer. Ariane has co-facilitated workshops with Pathways, Inc., taught NDT, and successfully worked with clients whose concerns have ranged from relationships and career issues, to clinical depression, TMJ and cancer, with amazing results.
TARA GREENWAY
Tara Greenway Leibowitz is a writer, actress, and interfaith minister. Tara wrote (in collaboration with Ariane Brandt) a one-woman show, Missionary Position, about the relationship between sexuality and spirituality. Tara performed the show off-Broadway, and also performs an adaptation of the play for sex therapists’ conferences. Tara has worked on many off-off-Broadway and regional stages, a couple of independent films, and at one time could be seen on television jumping up and down in a frenzy of excitement over the fact that Pizza Hut delivers. Tara is a member of AEA and AFTRA, and is an associate member of the Dramatists Guild. One of her essays has been published in Gary Null and Barbara Seaman’s book FOR WOMEN ONLY, and she is now at work on a book of essays tentatively entitled SEX AND GOD IN THE CITY.
Tara graduated from the New Seminary in June 2000 and was ordained as an interfaith minister through the Interfaith Temple. Interfaith belief is that every religion is a path to the Divine; every spiritual path is respected and held sacred. Tara is licensed as a minister by New York State and officiates weddings in the New York City area. She is an active member of the Brooklyn Friends Meeting, a Quaker congregation with silent meditative gatherings.
Tara has worked extensively with children and teenagers, including five years working with inner-city teens at the "I Have A Dream" Foundation, a tutoring and enrichment program that provides college scholarships to high-risk kids. She directed the Drama Youth Program at the Lamb’s Theatre in Manhattan, where she taught children living in welfare hotels to improvise, write, and perform theater. She now volunteers with The Healing Center, a program of Long Island College Hospital that provides a peer support group and play therapy to grieving children.
Tara’s favorite title is Mommy, a position she has held since May 19, 2001. Her boss is very demanding, but Tara enjoys the job and is learning a lot from it. She says that the pay is terrible, but the fringe benefits are out of this world. Tara can be reached at tarajoy@earthlink.net to inquire further about a New York area wedding or to purchase a copy of the play Missionary Position.
